I've got a wait problem, I can't wait to eat!!!

Yesterday due to yet another hectic day at work, I missed lunch yet again.  That probably happens three times a week.  I've gotta make it a point to do better.
It's not like I want to miss lunch, it's just that there are times when I'm so damned busy that it feels like one minute it's 10:30am and the next thing I know it's 2:45pm.  I have far too many days like that; meeting after meeting, conference call after conference call.

And it's not like my stomach didn't notice, but like always it seems to notice just a tad bit too late. Truth be told, I was so hungry that I could have eaten the boogers out of a dead man's nose and asked for seconds............well, maybe it wasn't quite that serious, but I was sho nuff hungry!!!
For the rest of the day, I ended up fiending on a good steak.  While sitting in a leadership meeting from 3pm-5pm, I sat there drooling, thinking of a New York Strip or a nice Filet Mignon from Ruth Chris's or Shula's Steakhouse.  Those are two of my favorite steakhouses and what I seem to fiend on when I'm really hungry.
What do you want when you're really really hungry?!? What's your favorite place to eat?!?

When I'm really hungry I like basic meals like, bacon and eggs with grits and toast. Or a turkey burger and fries. I don't want fancy when I'm really hungry.

    1. Now Val, bacon and eggs with grits and toast sounds good to me too. Some coffee would really set that off.

  3. Not the boogers out of a dead man's nose, Sir... LOL.

I know when I am in danger of missing meals, I have a good amount of fruit laying around. That usually helps me. But when I'm hungry, I want real food!

When I am really hungry, I like a good spicy stir-fry. I must be part Asian, lol.

    1. Nothing wrong with a nice spicy stir-fry LadyLee.

In my desk at work I usually have an abundance of almonds and fiber bars....but that stuff just goes so far.

  4. It is hard to focus when your stomach is growling. I hate when they schedule meetings back to back to back like people don't want to eat. They can at least offer to bring in lunch from somewhere. I try keep some sort of energy bar at my desk to choke down in between the madness.

We don't have either of those steakhouses here but I really want to try Ruth Chris's one day when I come across one.

    1. Worse than that Melissa is when on occasion some idiot will schedule a meeting for 5pm....and they know I get off at 5pm....that really pisses me off, but that does happen every couple of months or so.

I've probably eaten at Shulas and Ruth Chris's steakhouses a dozen times and I've never had a bad meal at any of the ones I've eaten. The food is always top quality.

  5. I usually eat pretty good health-wise, but when I'm hungry---like reaaaallly hungry---I crave stuff like cheesecakes, fudge, half the menu from Bonefish Grill, and anything deepfried/breaded/spicy/with shrimp.

    **Damn, I'm hungry**

    1. The Bonefish Grill has some good things going on LakiSwirl. The last time I ate there though was the day before Hurricane Sandy struck New Jersey and I ended up being stranded there with the wife for a few days.

Fried shrimp can always be on my menu.......with just a dash of Tabasco it's banging!!

  6. when am really hungry spicy food is my vice followed by guzzling down the recommended daily water intake....when am at home it's got to be kenke (traditional ghanaian dish) and fried fish with hot pepper sauce yummy.

Am a huge fan of Thai food and recently a few work mates and I have discovered a nice little hide out near work. When we're really hungry thats our fix...nice tasty spicy food and it's cheap as chips.

    1. Barefoot Countessa I absolutely love fried fish, especially when it's been hit with a little Tabasco sauce.

I'm scared of Thai food, it's hot going in and hot coming out.

    2. I thought you were talking about being hungry at lunch time...I don't usually sit down to a steak for lunch. Plus, I don't usually let myself get that famished...I usually have a backup snack at my desk or change for the snack machine.

    3. Either way, I'm good with that answer Crystal. I keep snacks at my desk as well.

  9. I prefer shrimp.. Deep fried or sauté in a fresh veg and rice blend. I prefer to cook myself because i found out that the stomach aches i had after eating at restaurants wasn't from over eating, but the preservatives they use in their foods...

    1. I love shrimp 1manview.

But, I need to know where the shrimp came from. Was it farm raised in Southeast Asia or was in caught in the Atlantic. I'd prefer my shrimp weren't swimming around eating out of their own toilet, unless that toilet is the size of an ocean. I've noticed some restaurants don't go out of their way to properly clean shrimp. I would expect not to have to eat shrimp shit, when I'm eating shrimp....particularly when you can see it.

When I fry shrimp, I like to clean it thoroughly and marinate it first in Tabasco......that'll give it that extra wang I need.

We ended up at the Grand Lux and it was AMAZING. I had the chicken Madeira - Delish. I also love Lucille's here - check out their menu - AWESOME. I miss Pappadeaux so gonna have to get down south soon.

I keep some creamy peanut butter and crackers in my locker at work just in case. Its good for the tie over.

I need to replenish the snacks in my drawer at work, today I noticed that I was completely out.

A lot of times it's difficult to get that "perfect balance" between user friendliness and visual appearance. I must say you've done a amazing job with
this. Also, the blog loads extremely fast for me on Firefox.

    1. I just love a good Porterhouse too Texas Queen. When I was in San Antonio last year I ate at Saltgrass and that steak was smothered in mushrooms.....damn it was good.

If you want good crab cakes you've gotta go to Baltimore. What they do there with lump crabmeat ought to be against the law.

    2. What? I agree about the Porterhouse but Eddie V's has REALLY good crad ckaes.

    1. No Labels I live in the south, but grilled catfish is something that I'm not sure that I've ever had. I like it fried, but I'm not sure that I would like it grilled. Maybe I would though, who knows? Maybe I will try it if I ever see it. Now grilled talapia yeah, but catfish?!?

      To each his own.

Now that cornbread and mac n cheese.....oh yeah that's good. Over the holidays I made some lobster macaroni and cheese that made my tongue slap my brains clean out.

    2. Yeah, I normally eat it fried...but I'm trying to behave with the whole healthy eating, but grilled with the right amount of seasoning is very good. Mac and cheese is my weakness though...lol

    3. So am I. I'm trying to eat healthier too. I don't eat a lot of fried foods now. I'm baking a lot of meat right now, grilled is great too.

Macaroni and cheese with lobster and crawfish and shrimp in it is outstanding.

If it's breakfast time and I'm really hungry, I'm heading to Cafe du Monde for some beignets and hot cocoa. Other than that,it depends on where I am. I'm hitting up Acme, Deanies,Camelia Grill or one my favorite sandwich shops...Parkway Tavern,Domilies, etc. depending on my location. That's the problem living here, if you're hungry, there are a ton of great places to eat.
By the way, We Never Close now closes at midnight. What kind of mess is that!?!

    1. Now why in the hell would "We never close" close?!? That just doesn't make sense BayouCreole.

I used to go there for lunch at least once a week and get a shrimp po-boy and by the time I ate all the shrimp around the sandwich, I was damned near full. They used to pile the shrimp up.

I haven't thought about Deanies in a while.....their seafood platter was nothing to play with.

Reggie, When I was in Baltimore off of Fells Ave there is a place called Shuckers the crab cakes ( and a Bud on the side) had me eating like there was no one else around, I had to get and order to go.
