Why is it so hard for some of us to acknowledge that our heroes are flawed and subject to the same foibles as everyone else?!? Is it so hard for some of us to clearly see that perfection doesn't exist in man?!?
Is it normal for a grown man to see nothing wrong in sleeping with children?!? Even if they're not your children?!? Is it normal for a grown man to build his very own private amusement park, complete with chimps and llamas and whatnot.....and then invite children?!? I mean, is it just me or shouldn't those kids already be going to Disney Land or Chuck E Cheese?!? This sounds like something that a pedophile might do to lure children to him......right?!? I'm not forgiving their parents for sending them to Neverland, but who does that?!? What type of person builds that kind of place?!?
Is it so hard to acknowledge that perhaps a great running back may have loved scoring with various women (other than his wife) and scoring drugs just as much as he loved scoring touchdowns?!?
Even if the glove didn't fit, why is it so hard for some of us to admit that it's entirely possible that the Juice actually "ginsued" his ex-wife and her lover?!? I mean, someone opened up that woman's chest like they were trying to get the breast implants out that they paid for. I mean it's just not me right?!?
Why is it so hard for some of us to acknowledge that maybe the "Pied Piper of R&B" should be pissing on somebody in jail?!? I mean c'mon, you know that piss wasn't digital.....right?!?
If instead of being entertainers and sports figures, these people were bus drivers or garbage men; would it be easier to believe that they might actually be guilty of what they've been accused of doing?!?
you know you point out some good views on thingz. I am a fan of Michael & Kelly but they seem to like children and minors. Even tho what they "might do" in their own personal lives isn't agreed upon. I do like them for their lyrics and music that they have made to touch me in different wayz.
ReplyDeleteYou never really know a person unless you GOD or a fly on the wall. I know ma chances of contacting or being with either is slim to none. However, I don't condone what they do but then again if I am buying or promoting them then I have condoned in some way, shape or form...?
I actually enjoy Kelly's and Jackson's music too, but I'd prefer to spend my hard earned green elsewhere. No one is perfect, but those two guys have (or had) some serious issues.
ReplyDeleteKellz and MJ... you going after sacred cows my man...ha ha ha ha ha
ReplyDeleteI don't know, Reggie, but MJ can't ever do wrong in my eyes. I grew up watching him.
ReplyDeleteHe was just a tortured soul. He built Neverland just as Disneyland was built. Is it wrong to be fond of children. Not sexually. I think the media will propagate anything just because one is a celeb.
Yeah maybe Citizen Ojo, but they are a couple of strange mofos to be sure. Robert wants to piss on our teenaged daughters and Mike wants to sleep with our grammer school aged male children. Neither one of them are worth more than two dead flies.
ReplyDeleteInez the media didn't say that Mike wanted to sleep with little boys, he did in an interview. He said he saw nothing wrong with it. I believe he built Neverland to lure children around him.
ReplyDeleteClearly the man was strange Inez, talented as hell, but very very very strange.
theyre all only human reggie... and humans are flawed... it aint that hard for me to believe.
ReplyDeleteThis often happens when we worship the creation and not the creator.
ReplyDeleteYes indeed Michelle, there are no perfect men, only perfect intentions.
ReplyDeleteThis is true Queen of Hearts, this is true.
ReplyDeleteI think people like Michael and R Kelly are assured of being protected by their fans, and that affects them negatively.
ReplyDeleteI wonder about their states of mind when they see people actually worshipping them, when they know that they are flawed, even wicked human beings with desires to do wicked things.
When we choose to worship a human, we screw them up in more ways than one. They lose touch with reality and they rationalize the wicked things they do, so it seems right to them.
Just because Michael was a great talent and beloved by the world, doesnt make me want to believe he could do no wrong. That would be making a god out of him. Its this treatment by his fans that ruined his life. If only he could have just been talented, and appreciated, yet treated as a human being--able to move around in the world without people fainting at the sight of him, maybe he would have been able to live in reality.
Anna Renee
Maybe so Anna Renee, maybe so. I suppose that's the same thing that we tend to do to these athletes so that they feel that ordinary societal rules don't apply to them.
ReplyDeleteI feel sorry for some of these people, but I'd still sleep better at night if more people like this were on deathrow.
i agree with Michelle. I know that I forget that at the end of the day, they're capable of the same flaws as everyone else. I still don't want to believe it though.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I tried at home and at work, and my name doesn't come up when I comment on your blogs, so I'm typing it here. Daij
Daij I don't know what's going on, but I'm having problems commenting on blogs as well.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Reg, they're both perv's. I don't know why people think otherwise and MJ did admit he didn't see anything wrong with sleeping with those kids.
ReplyDeleteIf the man down the street can be creepy and pervy, I don't know why people think actors and singers can't be.
Ain't that the truth BayouCreole? If our neighbors can be that strange mofo down the street, then why can't MJ or Kellz? We've all known that guy, whether a family member or a neighbor, that we've warned the kids to stay away from. Well maybe, just maybe, MJ and Kellz is that strange uncle we alll keep an eye on when our children or other children are around.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I was humbled by the kind words you said about me in your blog post today. Thank you BayouCreole.
Dude the fonts are all effed, been tinkering with the templates?
ReplyDeleteIt can be disappointing still, you know, finding out your Icon you've anchored your aspirations to is flawed. Did I think O.J did it? No, how could he possibly? I'm not so blinkered now as I've gotten older and temper my disappointment with knowledge of real life. real life sucks, even for Icons.
don't know about the children though, that's fucked up
anyhoo. what's that button marked "self destruct"? should I press it ...
Yeah Chrome I was going for a new look, but I'm not really feeling this.
ReplyDeleteI always believed that OJ was guilty as hell. There seemed to be a certain rage to that crime. Bastard should have been somewhere playing golf instead of carving up his ex like a pumpkin.
I can honestly say that I've never had blinders on where they are concerned - ESPECIALLY, O.J. Simpson. From the gate, I thought he committed that crime. I also believe what was said about both R. Kelly, and Michael Jackson (RIP). I did have some empathy for them, and I know there are many that would bash me for it. I don't condone any of what they did, but for Michael, being the Head of Household since about the age of 10 and completely missing out on his childhood, is left with Peter Pan syndrome...though I don't recall Peter Pan fondling, and sleeping with little kids. R. Kelly, losing his mother the way he did and as close as he was to her. She was probably well aware of her son's issues as most parents of these troubled people are. He lost his biggest supporter, and best friend when he lost her.
ReplyDeleteBoth those lyrical geniuses (of course I'm excluding OJ), had BIG issues that went unchecked, simply because of who they are/were. It's a sad situation because many were scarred along the way.
Oh...Reggie...I'm gonna need you to change that font in the post, k?
XOXO
Good points here, bruh. We must stop the madness of making excuses for warped, dangerous or just straight-up bad behavior, no matter who displays it.
ReplyDeleteOne.
So many people seem to refuse to acknowledge what I see as obvious Traci. Its as if their blackness won't allow them to voice the obvious. When it comes to evil I don't see race, it is what it is.
ReplyDeleteIf they did it, they did it and I refuse to make excuses for this type of shit.
ReplyDeleteGreat post Reggie and as it goes sometimes Information. Can. Only. Negate. Suspicion (ICONS), it is incredibly sad to see in the current climate of the 20th century we don't actually have individuals who are upstanding any longer PERIOD. As it goes there is never smoke without fire.....OJ hmmmmmm always been convinced he was SICK in the head.
ReplyDeleteMJ tragic story really he was lost in the beginning and never found his way back from the yellow brick road (still love his music though)
I suppose they really did think money could buy them everything including freedom from their demons...
Michael Jackson was a very talented man. He was also the only male celebrity that I could think of that used his money to order a two piece white with those kids of his. When most of us talk about making children it involves a man and woman boning, not a test tube and a turkey baster.
ReplyDeleteO.J is still gangsta though. didn't he like stick up these guys that were selling his memorabilia? like guns and all? Ahh Reggie I'm impressed by the silly things. agree he should've been playing golf somewhere
ReplyDeletefont fixed! yay!
Chrome any way you look at it, OJ is an idiot. I have absolutely zero respect for the man.
ReplyDeleteWe live in an age where there is too much hero worshiping. What happened to the days when the people you looked up to were the people you knew and loved and who looked out for you as opposed to the people you saw briefly on the TV? Sure it's good to respect a man or woman's work or contribution to society but let's get real, unless you really know them, there's no need to go any further with the adulation thing.
ReplyDeleteExcellent point Curious!!
ReplyDeleteI actually agreed with Charles Barkley when he said that he's no role model or shoulldn't be anyway.
Thanks for stopping by, please do come again.
I do not think that MJ molested any kids. I think that he had it in him becasue the shit he was doing was damn crazy, but I don't actually think he diddled with any boys..But What do I know? As the most esteemed poet Dolemite once said.."Nobody knows where the nose goes when the doors are closed."
ReplyDeleteBut as for the peed piper...(yes I meant to spell it like that)...Fuck him.. I seent the damn tape and that was that nigga. That could have been my daughter or little cousin or niece man. If I saw that dude on fire standing in a vat of gasoline with draws soaked in jetfuel, I wouldn't waste my piss putting him out. I refuse to support that fool.
People are a mix of good and evil. I happen not to like MJ's or R. Kelly's music. So it's no loss for me. But there are other musicians or artists I do like who are just as problematic if not more so.
ReplyDeleteRoman Polanski is a great director.
He is also a child rapist who successfully fled justice. Neither fact necessarily has anything to do with the other.
Eric Clapton is a good guitarist who went out of his way to help the black musicians who influenced him. He hired blacks in his band. He also got angry and said he didn't want any wogs in England and that England should stay white and everyone should have voted for Enoch Powell.
And so on. I have no problem acknowledging that some very talented people often have some rather unpleasant characteristics. I think each person must decide for themselves what they can tolerate. It's not really a logical decision.
Dirty Red where there's smoke there's fire and Mike is one smoking twisted mofo. I never believed he was innocent, there are too many signs and clues. There's something wrong with that motherfucker Dirty Red.
ReplyDeleteNow old Robert, he's one nasty motherfucker. I wouldn't piss on him, he might like that shit. That piss wasn't digital,
Shady Grady I've always liked their music, I just don't like the men. As men go, these two are particularly flawed.
ReplyDeleteThe children are safer now that MJs taking a dirt nap and R Kelly ought to be pissing on someone in jail.
I agree with every thing you said. And also about Michael; why do people ignore the fact that he hated his Blackness so much that he bought three kids and pretended that they were his?!
ReplyDeleteAnd they should build a special jail for RKelly.
Also, I'm back, Reggie! I have a new blog! Stop by.
I will most certainly do that Val.
ReplyDeleteThese people should be held to same standards and laws as everyone else. But we all know that celebs are given special treatment and as soon as they make a new movie or song the public forgets the bad things they did.
ReplyDeleteThis is true Roz, this is true. But me, I don't forget. I'm a vengeful motherfucker that holds a grudge.
ReplyDeleteMJ more than an icon is an idol, and even he got a polemic life, he is and he'll be the best of this world forever and ever.
ReplyDeleteMJ was a great entertainer, but he wasn't necessarily a good man.
ReplyDeleteI don;t know what you think but the unique icon that I see on that list is MJ I don't know who are the rest of the guys.
ReplyDeleteJust flawed men.
ReplyDeleteAthletes and entertainers certainly, but flawed men nonetheless all.
