Sometimes we need to look within.

I know that I'm far from perfect. Lately I've spent a good deal of time looking within.  When I take a good look, to be honest, I haven't always liked what I've seen.  But everyday I strive to be a better person.  I think it behooves us all to look within and take a personal inventory from time to time.  When we don't like what we see, it's absolutely necessary to make changes that help us become the person that we need to be.

It's not just important to do that for ourselves, it's important to do that for the other people in our lives.

Being a better person will make me a better husband, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, neighbor, friend, coworker, citizen and a far better human being.
Looking within is part of our personal growth.  I will be a better person and I will strive to grow every day......will you?

  1. This is the best post ever.!!!! I have struggled the last four years to reinvent myself and for the most part I have. I try everyday to be a better person. I'm nicer to people everyday and I'm positive. I try to turn every situation into a positive. But I'm not perfect and I know this. It's something I constantly have to work on. I'm so proud of myself for realizing I'm not perfect but I'm better. You are n awesome person and don't ever forget it

    1. I am a flawed human being but I will strive to be a better person Roz. I will be a better person Roz. Aren't there things about yourself you'd like to change? Not physically.....that might be my next post. I'm talking about aspects of who you are as a person.

  2. I try to be better but I don't often succeed. I rely on my faith in God to guide me and the hubs to talk me down off the ledge. I have a temper and I've *mostly* gotten it under control but, yeah, it is a daily struggle. And I often say people should be happy I don't have the power to zap. :-)

  3. Yes indeed Reggie. I am working, constantly working towards being a better person and i believe that i am. It's not easy...not at all. I strive for more patience, to be more passionate and loving to those who don't exactly win me over on the 1st or 2nd run. I'm a work in progress for sure, but that just means i'm still trying and never letting go of the goal i seek and surely will win. My nemesis/archangel is very challenging these days...and though he may think my temperament is low...and overcoming...i still seek the victory...quietly, discreetly and with all good intentions.

    1. I've got good intentions too MizRepresent, but you and I both know that the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Like you, I'm still trying though....and I'm gonna keep trying too.

My patience used to be much better than it is now, I must be getting old.

  4. I hear ya brah.
I do my soul searching everyday on my 30 minute commute to my "good job". I question myself everyday. I always ask myself what I can do improve my situation and if needed the situation of whoever is around me at the time. I pray that God will put me in a place where I can do better. So far he has answered me..but I'm a man..and sometimes I think I know whats best..and I end up fucking up. So Reggie, for me it is a never ending journey.

  6. Some soul searching is a great way to break down unslightly walls in life. Your growth is already mighty Reggie by your expression in this post. Like yourself am learning to free up some thinking space in order to unclutter certain things in my life that hold me hostage to the everyday as we know Life. It is a cycle of learn repeat repair. Am sure we all strive to repair those niggling aspects of who we are and ultimately that always has a knock on effect on another view of the person we are. What do we stand to gain? wisdom and inner peace. We all need peace to reign in our lives!

    1. Chrome sometimes I think that it's important for our growth as individuals to take a good look within. If it's necessary to make a change, then at that point we can do so.

Even as we don't stop aging, we shouldn't stop growing.

  11. I need to...but people man, they get on my nerves and for every good intention I have some people just make that go straight out the window! LOL In all seriousness, I definitely need to work on me. My patience is thin, my attitude needs adjusting and sometimes I need to work on my delivery (well a lot of times, I need to work on my delivery). This post is on time...I really do have so soul searching to do and changes to make.

  12. I'm a proponent of anything that makes us better and looking within is essential. While it always seems like we should've been doing it all along, I think it takes a certain amount of maturity and a larger perspective to understand why.

  13. Great post Reggie. I can admit to being a better person than I was. I think each year I try to be better. I definitely have improved in the violence against others area. I think I'm a bit stronger than I was and I'm less spoiled. I'm a work in progress who must continuously look within.

  14. I wholeheartedly agree with you Reggie. If we do not take the time to self-assess and/or employ the wisdom of those closest to us, we will never evolve, aspire, grow, or change. Remaining in the "same old; same old" is a boring and mundane position of which our lifes channels get blocked.

I applaud and commend you for looking in the mirror and striving to be a better you.

  16. I'm a quiet down to earth person. But everyday life gets to us all. We become a little more vocal, a little more pushy, then one day you say or do something that wakes you up, because it's not the real you. So you go to the mirror and look at the reflection, and tell yourself life is short and it's Ok to be the good guy...

  17. Reg, every day I strive to be a better me. Sometimes, looking in that mirror is hard...so hard, that I actually turn away because even I can't take the person staring back. But, I'm in the game and if I keep playing eventually, I'll get where I want to be.

  19. Reggie some psychologists would say that we are crazed to observe ourselves this closely. Fiddle Faddle, I have come to to understand lots about myself...When my penmanship is BEAUTIFUL as some call it I am Stressed, or someone has ticked me the hell off.. When my eye color turns that amber brown, I am overly emotional in some aspect temper temper, yes indeed I watch myself closely, the good thing it is I of whom have observed this about myself, no one else.....I have had to look deeply within myself to control the BEAST that emerges at times.. We(even us easy going soft spoken ones) all have the Beast factoring within us.. What's so good about this is that we know that it is there and attempt to tame it for betterment of ourselves constantly. and then again I am that I am..Exodus 3-14.. Just as GOD has made me/us to be.....
